In This Edition:

50th Anniversary
Because of a clash with Hidden Earth, the date of the Anniversary Dinner has been changed to Saturday 2nd September. The venue will remain The Cheltenham Quality Hotel. The cost will be £19.50, and will include a copy of the commemorative 50th Anniversary Journal. All current members will of course receive an invitation. If you have any material that is relevant to the history of GSS that could be lent (and in the case of photographs, copied) for display at the dinner, it would be interesting to see it. Please let one of the committee know, and we will see how best it can be presented.

Another part of the anniversary celebrations will be the mounting of a club stand at Hidden Earth 2006, which will be held at Leek High School, Staffordshire. Assistance in helping to construct this stand will be vital, so please do your best to help.

Joint Caving With RFDCC:
The list of caving meets (see the Events Diary) includes the trips arranged by the Forest Club. They have also been invited to come along on our trips. This will give both clubs access to a greater pool of experience.

Ireland At Easter:
The club used to go to caving in Ireland (both north and south) a lot. The caves are still as exciting as ever, so if anyone is interested in going for the long Easter weekend (14th – 17th April), contact Dave Appleing.

SRT Training:
Steve Tomalin will run SRT training sessions at the GCRG depot, Cinderford, on 4th April and 9th May. Start about 7 pm. Your access to vertical caves is greatly limited without any SRT skills.

Club Equipment:
The club tackle has been removed from the GCRG depot, where it was becoming scattered and was liable to be "borrowed". Most of it is now with Dave Appleing. If any members have club tackle in their possession, please either pass it on to Dave or at least let him know what it is you have.

The club does not have a tackle officer at present. Would any member care to take on this role? It does not have to involve finding somewhere to store all the kit, but would just require someone to control its use.
